Where's Summit?

Everyone has been asking about Summit, so here's the scoop!

Our new home town has a population of about 1,500 people. It is a suburb of McComb, MS which has a population of about 14,000 people.

Yay, small towns!!

We are located in Pike County about 80 miles south of Jackson.(I wonder how long it will take me to say county instead of parish?)  But more importantly, we are only 110 miles from New Orleans!!

Thank the Lord!!

Less than two hours to Olive's house!

Summit is the highest point on the Illinois Central Railroad between New Orleans, Louisiana and Jackson, Tennessee.

They've put up quite a marker to prove it!!

The little downtown area is filled with cute shops, a fabric store, and the Sweet Tooth CafĂ©. The Star Drive In is a local favorite and you can't even get close to it at lunchtime!!

Well, that's all I really know about Summit. I'm sure there's lots more to learn!

Until then.....

What makes most people comfortable is some sort of sense of nostalgia.
I grew up in a small town, and I could count my friends on one hand, and I still live that way. I think I'll die in a small town.
When I can't move my bones around a stage any more,
you'll find me living in a place that's spread out and rural and spacious.
-Justin Timberlake

It's passionately interesting for me that
the things that I learned in a small town, in a very modest home,
are just the things that I believe have won the election.
-Margaret Thatcher

The axis of the earth sticks out visibly through the centre
of each and every town or city.
~Oliver Wendell Holmes, Sr.
