Project People

One summer, a good teacher-friend and I met up at the local high school a couple of mornings a week to walk for exercise. We would tell each other what we had planned for the week and she was always horrified by my 'to do' list. "You need to learn how to relax!" she said.

But what she didn't understand is that I am a Project Person. Project People always have to have something that we are working on. In fact we really like to have one project we're working on, one project that we're starting soon, and several projects in the planning stage. We can't help ourselves, nor do we want to. We've just got to create!!!

I have a talented friend who is a fellow Project Person; her name is Liz. Here is one of her recent projects.

                                                                      The Jewelry Box

Liz started with a broken puzzle box that belonged to one of her grandchildren, but Project People don't throw things away. Instead they squirrel them away for the next project. Liz glued the broken box back together, Kilzed it, and painted it white. Then she decoupaged it with beautiful blue paper and Craft Bond following the directions on the bottle.

Next, she cut dowels slightly shorter than the width of the box. Each dowel was covered with a thin sheet of batting followed by a thin knit fabric. All of that was done with hot glue. Liz also covered jewelry gift boxes with the same paper and glued them in. For the ring area she cut a rectangle from foam, and also covered it with batting and fabric.

Isn't it fabulous?!!

Liz said she wanted this to be a no-cost project and she succeeded. Everything she used, she already had on hand. I just love it!!

But the thing I love most about Liz's project is what she said when she finished telling me about it. She said, "Next project, necklaces!"

See what I mean about Project People!!

Until tomorrow,
Shelli
