I have mentioned before that my favorite part of our house is the gallery wall in the den. (For a reminder on how to make a gallery wall check out the post on September 26, 2017.)
In January and February, the theme was color and mood. The colors were purples, greens, and grays- cool, rather dreary colors that match my mood for the winter.

The painting on the bottom isn't a painting at all - it's fabric. I found it at an estate sale and loved it. It looks wintry and cold to me. There are a few tears in it, so I Mod Podged it to a board. Now it is much more durable.
The painting on top is a quickie watercolor I did myself because I needed something in this color palette to fill the last space.

This long painting was also an estate sale buy and if you turn your head and look at it horizontally, you will likely recognize it. It is a common mid-century modern painting of a bridge in front of a city skyline. I got it for $10, mostly for the frame and its size. I added a few lines with a magic marker to distract from what it used to be. |

This is a watercolor that I think I got from my great aunt's estate. The cars are from the 50s, but I don't recognize the city. It is signed, but I can't decipher the signature. If I ever make it to Antiques Roadshow, I will take this picture. |
Anyway, it is fun to assemble an ensemble of art with an arbitrary theme. For March and April, the theme is greenery. One of the pictures I am copying from the cover of the Upper Room magazine -more on that later.
Until tomorrow,

What art offers is space — a certain breathing room for the spirit.

One of the best things about paintings is their silence —
which prompts reflection and random reverie.
